Tombstone Johnson 30X Cowboy Hat

The Tombstone Johnson in 30X — a straw cowboy hat made in Mexico, in the tall-crown Johnson shape. Leather hatband, 9 cm (3 1/2") brim and 12 cm crown, with a synthetic sweatband inside.

What the X means at Tombstone. On a straw hat the X describes the weave, but at Tombstone the number does not rank the line: the 30X and Master Telar (1,000X and 5,000X) are different weaves, so a bigger number does not mean a finer hat. The 30X is a tighter weave than the 1,000X Master Telar, which is why it costs more even though the number is smaller. Compare them with your hands, not by the number.
