The Griffin is Stetson's 100X shantung straw western hat in natural, from the Premier Collection, handmade in the U.S.A.
What 100X means on straw. On a straw hat the X rating measures how fine and tight the weave is — not the fur blend, the way it works on felt. A 100X straw is at the top of that scale: a dense, even weave that keeps its shape and reads much crisper than a common palm hat. The numbers don't compare across materials, so a 100X straw and a 100X felt are not the same thing.
Woven in a 3 Bu 2x2 pattern — each strand passes over two and under two — which gives the Griffin its supple feel and its texture. Regular oval with a 4 1/8" low cattleman crown and a 4 1/4" medium curved brim, with venting all the way around for the Texas summer. Finished with a tooled leather hat band with a three-piece silver-tone buckle set and a tooled leather sweatband.
