RDR Cowboy Hat Sinaloa Patron 10X Silver Belly
Beaver fur felt in silver belly — the top grade in the line paired with the color that made the Western hat famous. RDR reserves 10X for beaver, the finest hat material made, and silver belly is where that quality is easiest to appreciate: a warm off-white with a tan cast that shows the depth and low sheen of a good felt in a way darker colors hide.
Beaver fur has microscopic barbs that interlock far more tightly than wool or rabbit, producing a dense felt that sheds rain instead of absorbing it and holds a crease indefinitely. That water resistance is a genuine functional difference, not a selling point: a wool hat caught in a shower loses its shape permanently, while beaver dries and returns to form. On a pale color the density matters twice over, because a looser felt traps dust in the fibers and marks for good, while beaver brushes clean. Silver belly is more forgiving than true white and dressier than pecan, which makes it the color most people settle on once they have owned a few hats. With reasonable care a hat at this grade lasts decades.
