Caiman belly in black with a Kabul black top — panza, the most prized cut of the hide. Where hornback gives you raised ridges, belly gives you rows of clean, squared scales that graduate in size across the vamp: smoother, more refined, and noticeably softer underfoot from the first wear.

Belly commands its premium because it's the softest, most pliable section of the animal and yields a limited amount per hide — the tile-like scale pattern has to be cut and matched so the rows run true across both boots, which takes considerably more skill than working a textured back cut. The result breaks in faster and conforms to the foot better than any other exotic.

The 305 wide square toe gives generous room across the toes. A walking heel at 1.5 inches is built for comfort on foot rather than deep stirrup work — which makes this the belly caiman you can wear all evening. The 13-inch top delivers full traditional Western coverage.

How these are built. This is Tanner Mark's Black Label construction: the leather outsole is set with lemon wood pegs and brass tacks rather than glued, a steel shank runs through the arch for support, and a three-quarter double-stitched welt joins upper to sole. Full calfskin lining breathes and shapes to your foot in a way synthetic linings never do, the heel is stacked leather, and the insole is comfort cushioned.

Scale size and pattern vary from pair to pair; that variation confirms the hide is genuine.
