El Canelo El Paso Taupe Buck Ankle Boot

The El Paso in taupe buck — a warm grey-brown that sits between tan and chocolate and goes with more than either of them. Buck is the napped finish: soft to the touch, matte rather than shiny, closer to suede than to smooth leather.

Handmade in Mexico by El Canelo. The ankle height is what makes this style work outside a ranch — it wears under a pant leg without reading as a cowboy boot, so it goes to work, to dinner, and to a Saturday without changing.

A note on buck leather: the napped surface shows marks more readily than smooth leather but also brushes clean. A suede brush and a protective spray keep it looking right for years.
