Genuine full quill ostrich in Mad Dog Brandy with a 13-inch Oklahoma Cognac shaft — the warmest of the three ostrich finishes we carry. It sits between the honey and the café: rich enough to read as dress leather, warm enough to pair with brown belts and lighter denim.

The quill pattern is the real thing. Each raised bump across the vamp is a follicle where a feather grew, which is why no two pairs are identical and why anyone who knows leather recognizes ostrich immediately. Ostrich also happens to be among the softest and most durable exotic hides made — it breaks in faster than cowhide and resists cracking for decades.

The Mad Dog treatment gives the surface a soft matte character rather than high shine. Underneath, a leather sole with a natural finish is joined by a three-quarter double-stitched welt — the construction that lets any bootmaker resole them years from now instead of you replacing the pair. The 302 square toe gives generous room across the foot.
