Tanner Mark Ostrich Leg Black - TMX200462

Genuine ostrich leg is the harder-to-find cut, and it looks nothing like the quill-bump ostrich most people know. Instead of round follicle bumps, ostrich leg gives you a tight, reptilian scale pattern running down the vamp — closer in appearance to lizard, but with the softness and durability ostrich is known for. In black it reads sharp and formal.

Ostrich leg comes from the lower portion of the bird where the skin naturally forms overlapping scales rather than quill follicles — a much smaller yield per animal than body hide, which is part of why leg cuts are less common on the rack. If you already own a pair of quill ostrich and want something different, this is the answer.

The black finish keeps the scale texture as the focal point rather than color.

How these are built. This is Tanner Mark's Black Label construction: the leather outsole is set with lemon wood pegs and brass tacks rather than glued, a steel shank runs through the arch for support, and a three-quarter double-stitched welt joins upper to sole. The shaft is lined in calfskin, the heel is stacked leather, and the insole is comfort cushioned — which means any bootmaker can resole them years from now.

Because ostrich leg is a natural hide, the scale pattern varies from pair to pair — that variation confirms the leather is genuine.
