Caiman belly is the most prized cut of the hide, and in brown it's the warmest, most classic version you can buy. Where hornback gives you dramatic raised ridges, belly gives you rows of clean, squared scales that graduate in size across the vamp — smoother, more refined, and considerably softer underfoot from the first wear. Brown belly caiman is what serious boot people ask for by name.

Belly commands its premium because it's the softest, most pliable section of the animal and yields a limited amount per hide. The tile-like scale pattern has to be cut and matched so the rows run true across both boots, which takes considerably more skill than working a textured back cut. The result is a boot that breaks in faster and conforms to the foot better than any other exotic.

The brown finish lets the natural color variation across the scales show as depth rather than flat tone, and it pairs naturally with brown belts and lighter denim. A Kabul-tone top gives the shaft warmth above the exotic foot, finished with traditional Western stitching.

How these are built. This is Tanner Mark's Black Label construction: the leather outsole is set with lemon wood pegs and brass tacks rather than glued, a steel shank runs through the arch for support, and a three-quarter double-stitched welt joins upper to sole. The shaft is lined in calfskin, the heel is stacked leather, and the insole is comfort cushioned. At this level you're buying a boot to rebuild, not to replace — any bootmaker can resole them.
