ARIAT Groundbreaker Work Boot 10020059

A pull-on work boot with western lines — ten-inch shaft, wide square toe, four-row stitch pattern up the side. It reads as a cowboy boot from a distance and works like a work boot up close, which is the point for anyone who goes from the ranch to town without changing.

The construction detail worth paying for is the Goodyear welt: upper and sole are stitched rather than only glued, so when the sole wears out the boot can be resoled instead of thrown away. Underneath, a lightweight EVA midsole absorbs shock and the Duratread sole resists oil and slipping, holds to 300°C hot contact, and sheds mud on its own through a self-cleaning tread. The 4LR system carries support through the day and the removable cushioned insole pulls out for cleaning. Mesh lining keeps it breathing. The 90-degree heel gives a secure catch on ladder rungs.

This is the soft-toe version — wide square toe, no protective cap. Rated ASTM F2892-11 for electrical hazard.

One note straight from Ariat: leather color varies between pairs because of oil content in the hide, and darker leather lightens as it wears. That's the material behaving normally, not a defect.
